Where is My Backpacking Advisor Located?

Our customer service center and sales departments are located in Miami Beach, Florida. We are, however, an American company, operating in the United States as My Backpacking Advisor Inc. When you purchase your trip, you purchase it directly from us through a merchant processor (Stripe) located in the United States.

How do I contact my personal travel advisor directly?

Once you have purchased a plan with an advisor you will find their direct contact details in the signature of their email.

Do I need to print my full itinerary?

Our full Itineraries are packed with all the details you need for your trip, and as a result, they can be very long. If you do not want to print your Full Itinerary, you can just save the PDF to a tablet or phone. If you do print the itinerary, we suggest emailing both the Full Itinerary to a local print shop such as a UPS store. Ask them to print the attachments and bind them into one combined document for you. Instruct them to print the itinerary double-sided to reduce the bulk. Each day you travel, you can just rip that day out of the itinerary so you do not have to carry around the full itinerary.

What’s the easiest way to set up my cellphone for overseas travel?

Before you travel, make sure your cellphone can make calls and connect to the internet while you are overseas. Having a working cellphone enhances your travel experience, and allows you to call your advisor for any help or changes. The best way to optimize your cellphone for overseas use is simply talking to your provider. Most cellphone providers have international roaming services at very affordable rates. Tell your network provider about the regions and countries you intend to visit, and they should be able to suggest an international data and calling option that is best for you. Some providers let you keep the same rate you pay at home for data, texts, and minutes with a flat surplus fee for roaming.

Alternatively you can buy a local sim card.

Purchasing a SIM card is generally less expensive than an international roaming plan. But if you are traveling through several countries, it can be difficult to refill your SIM card once you leave the country of purchase. Some countries require you to fill out a lot of paperwork or have a local address when purchasing a SIM card. We recommend that our travelers contact their carrier and get an international plan, even if it is a little more expensive.

Should I purchase travel insurance?

Yes, you definitely should purchase travel insurance for your trip. We can help you with the best providers. Travel insurance is fairly cheap and well worth it. If you choose not to purchase travel insurance, you are traveling at your own risk.
