How Our Journey Started
About Me
I’m Andrew, adventurer, backpacking addict and the founder of this website. My goal here is to help you have an unforgettable time as you backpack around the world.
I was born and raised in Canada. I grew up in Toronto, but I’ve lived in Miami, Australia and Sweden.
I went to university in 2010 but decided backpacking sounded more fun so I moved to Sydney, Australia (for the first time) for a year. After deciding to go back home and finish school, I decided to reward myself with another six month backpacking trip through Europe.
Throughout the last 10 years I’ve had jobs that have taken me back to Australia and Europe which have allowed me to continue backpacking for a month or so each year.
After 10 years of travelling dozens of countries, I want to help fellow backpackers spend their trips focused on care-free fun. I’ve become a pro at planning logistics for trips, constantly helping friends and family book their trips. Through my journeys I’ve compiled top recommended spots and made plenty of local friends along the way. It is our goal here at My Backpacking Advisor to share all we have learned so you can have the seamless trip of a lifetime.
The History of My Backpacking Advisor
During all of my trips, I found myself spending to much time in the hostel researching which bar or club to hit up, or where to eat and what tour is actually worth paying for. There is so much information online now that I spent countless hours wading through hundreds of websites, but I never found one site that gave me all the information I wanted.
As an experienced backpacker with an extensive network, I’ve learned how to plan and organize trips while enjoying all the popular and local attractions at every destination. Since Covid put my travel plans on hold I got the idea to create a high-quality site about backpacking trip planning— a site that I would want to actually use. My vision is to build an online resource that anyone can use to plan their first, or next, unforgettable trip of a lifetime.
