Backpacking Corfu

Information on Corfu, sights to see, nightlife, activities and more.

Located on the Ionian Seas in western Greece, you will find white sand beaches, an active nightlife, and beautiful mountains. Sunsets, sandy beaches and clear water have made this Greek island a favorite in the summer. Corfu has so many beautiful sights to behold, monasteries covered in flowers, fortresses that rise above the blue seas and the scent of olives. Backpackers will wander through Corfu Town full of sunshine while exploring its narrow lanes, and Venetian buildings. The alley’s shops brim with jewelry, handbags and liqueur. The main town on Corfu is touristy but it’s a great starting point to understand the island. The San Giacomo town hall building dates to Venetian rule between the 14th and late 18th centuries, while the Liston Arcade was made by the French, dating back to the Napoleonic occupation that began in the 1700’s. Corfu has been one of Greece’s most popular tourist destinations for over 50 years and is still is incredibly popular with backpackers who visit Corfu for its inexpensive and famous parties. Most of the action sticks to a few major hot spots but if you are looking for a place to relax Corfu may be for you as it is more relaxed than many other islands in the Mediterranean.
